Over two nights, April 27 and 28, jam band legends Max Creek will be taking over the Fort William Henry Hotel and Conference Center in Lake George, NY for two days of music which they’re calling their 41st Anniversary Creekend. The band is set perform on both Friday and Saturday evening inside the Towers Hall at the hotel., each night with a regional act playing in support. Local favorites The Stone Revival Band will also play an outdoor set on Saturday afternoon on the lawn of the hotel, overlooking the lake.

Lake George promoter Dave Ehmann is responsible for putting together this weekend of music, and is putting all of the proceeds back into the local community and music scene. Ehmann is the man behind Improv Records’ Kamp David Saturday Music Summits, a weekly free concert series that takes place over the summer weeks at the Lake George Amphitheater in Shepard Park. Over the last few years he has also been responsible for the Fridays at the Lake Series. With the goal of providing quality, free, family friendly, live entertainment to both members of the local community, and the tourists that seek a weekend getaway in the summer months, Ehmann has now been providing Lake George with weekly free summer concerts for three years. Co-promoting the event is Guthrie Bell Productions, who have been bringing great live music to New York’s capital region for twenty years.

Since their first performance together in May of 1971, the members of Max Creek estimate they’ve performed nearly 3,000 times. They also play host to an annual weekend summer festival, Camp Creek, that features both bands they have worked with for years, as well as talented up and coming groups. While they have traversed much of the country throughout their forty-one years as a band, most of their core following remains located in New England. Although they may not have ever achieved widespread mainstream success, their influences on the bands that make up the jam band genre today have no doubt at least partially taken cues from Max Creek. Phish has performed a cover of their instrumental piece “Back Porch Boogie”, and as Glide Magazine stated, “Bands like Phish, moe., Blues Traveler, the Disco Biscuits and others are the trees from Max Creek’s seeds of a thriving Northeast music scene that encourages live risk taking on stage and playing according to the feel of the present moment.” Because of this, Max Creek and their fans known that the truest, best way to experience their music is in their live show.

For their 41st Anniversary Creekend, Lake George will likely prove to be an ideal setting. Being perhaps one of the most beautiful and popular summer destinations in the region, during the late April weekend the town will not yet be overflowing with tourists as it is in the summer months. Fans coming for the weekend will get to experience the music they love, and also be able to use it as a relaxing weekend getaway to enjoy the beauty of Lake George and its surrounding mountains with a like-minded community of fans.

For both evenings, doors open at 8:00pm. Friday, April 27, Capital Zen will start off the evening of music, and on the 28th it will be Rev Tor Band. Also on Saturday, The Stone Revival Band, featuring Vinnie Amico of moe., will be performing an outdoor afternoon set at 2:00pm. Various craft and food vendors will also be on site throughout the weekend.

Tickets are $25.00 per night or $40.00 for a ticket that includes both nights, they are on sale now and available at http://maxcreek.eventbrite.com

Fans coming for the weekend can also receive discounted guest rates for rooms at the Fort William Henry Hotel. The hotel is home to in house dining, an indoor swimming pool and boasts beautiful lakeside views

max creek

Max Creek, a regional phenomenon is one of the most electrifying live acts on the Eastern seaboard today. Max Creek brings to the stage a wide variety of musical experience, from the blues to ballads to hard- edged rock n’ roll, to early San Francisco era improv.

This five man band has a unique style, and their blend of original songs and classic covers has gained them remarkable respect and a large following which continues to grow. To see Max Creek in concert is to fall under their unique spell. A Max Creek concert– whether in a packed nightclub or outdoor arena– is an electrifying and magical experience; just ask those who travel hundreds of miles to listen and dance. Blues ballads blend into jazzy barroom piano and a jumping, frenetic energy fuled by the audience. An hour later, there’s a full fledged jam at work, combining contemporary and jazz idioms and soaring into freeform flight. Even later, a reggae- tinged stunner will blend right into a folksy blues intro. Each night is different– you can’t predict Max Creek’s direction. Rock, jazz, reggae, folk, bluegrass– it’s all there in a special blend that entices listeners to go back again, and again. Max Creek inspires loyalty, and anyone can get hooked– quickly. When the Creek magic is in full swing, amazing things happen. The guys in the band call it “reciprocal energy” and there’s no better way to describe the bond that develops between performers and audience. This is a Creek specialty, and each night can be described as an incredible journey that band and the audience take together. It’s something that makes all the rehersal, the traveling, and effort that goes into being a musical organization worthwhile. Max Creek has remained a sucessful band for many years, performing year-round in theaters, outdoor arenas, night clubs, colleges and prepschools. Continuing to grow and move ahead, they cut a larger and larger musical profile with many promising prospects for the future. But to fully understand Max Creek’s magic, you have to experience it yourself. Just ask someone who has.
