Preceding the festival hosts as the penultimate performer on the main stage Saturday night of the Wanee Festival, the Steve Miller Band joins more than forty bands at the Allman Brothers’ sixth annual outdoor rock festival to be held April 14-16 at Live Oak, Florida. Expanded this year to three days for the first time, the Allmans top all three evenings Widespread Panic and Robert Plant and the Band of Joy will play before the Allmans the other two nights.
Also appearing on the festival will be Stephen Marley, Taj Mahal, Wanda Jackson, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Ween and others, alongside Allman Brothers offshoots featuring guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks. Miller recently jammed for the first time in their lengthy careers with Gregg Allman last December at the Warren Haynes annual charity Christmas Jam at Asheville, S.C.
Gregg Allman, whose new T-Bone Burnett-produced album, “Low Country Blues,” is getting the best reception of his solo career, will join the Steve Miller Band as special guest on six concerts April 19-27 in small arenas and theaters in the South, Midwest and East Coast. Despite their lengthy careers and many million miles on the road, Miller and Allman had never crossed paths before playing together in December at the annual Warren Haynes charity Christmas Jam in Asheville, S.C. Look for some hot and heavy blues jams on these dates.
